Your
sound system will require an audio/video
receiver and speakers (at least five for
surround sound). You will need an option that
allows your whole audio/video system to work
together. To be able to experience true surround
sound, several options are available depending
on your budget.
Most home theaters use Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby
5.1, or THX (Lucas Films version of home
theater). Receivers can range in price from two
hundred dollars to several thousand.
Important options to consider are:
ðNumber of audio
and video inputs
ðHow customizable
the sound frequencies are
ðHow much power
the receiver outputs
Most high-end systems have separates –
amplifier, receiver and/or tuner.
A very popular logo is THX, which has its own
set of standards that requires a few extra
circuits to be in place on components.
Dolby 5.1 Surround System has a separate channel
for subwoofers (bass), and can produce stereo
sound from the rear surround speakers. For the
best sound from your speakers, you’ll need a
separate pre-amp and amplifier that will handle
Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Surround Sound, or THX
Surround EX, and is Home THX Ultra certified.
